Harms of Teen Drinking

If your son came home drunk, what would you do? Would you punish him? Take away his phone? Many people are trying to decrease the legal drinking age. Teenagers dont know how to control themselves. If the drinking age is decreased to under 21 there will probably be an increase in death rates, school dropouts, and a rise in crime rates. We all know that the cause of most deaths is drunk driving. In addition, if teenagers were allowed to drink, they would care more about drinking and not doing their homework or taking care of school. Crime would also rise because of the need for money.

About 90% of all deaths are cause by drunk drinving. When teenagers are drunk they can't control themselves. Their reflexes are not as sharp as when they are sober. If more kids are allowed to drink, they will drive while they are drunk and maybe kill another person. This puts communities in danger. Imagine not being able to walk around because you are scared of getting killed by a drunk driver. So many people have been hurt and scared for ever.

In addition, teens will probably dropout of school. How many times have you seen teens ditching school just to drink with their friends? If more and more students are allowed to drink they might not pay attention to school. They would try to just get money to buy beer. This affects everyone.

Finally, crime rates would most likely increase. The neccesity of money to buy beer will lead these teens to steal. People wouldn't be able to be safe during the night. The authorities will have to work harder and imprison more teens. Our soceity will be ruined if teens were allowed to drink.

In conclusion, people under twenty one are allowed to drink it will affect everyone. More drunk driving accidents would occur. Fewer students would graduate school because of their addiction to beer. Therefore, if the drinking age is decreased to under 21 soceity would probably have to deal with criminals, dropuots, and more deaths.
