We all think that television is a harmless educative thing. Everyone in the U.S has, atleast, one televison in their home. There is a variety of shows to suit any age group. Some of the shows are "Sesame Street" which is an educational show to "Family Guy" which is an adult comedy show. With so many shows available we spend more time sitting down in front of the televison, this affects us mentally, and socially, and health-wiselly.
First of all, we know that most kids spend their free time watching televison. Most of the population likes watching shows like Family Guy(a noneducative program), King of the Hill, etc. This programs all deal with violence, sex, and/or drugs. What are kids learning? Is it something that will help them in life? Will it help them in school? Instead of doing homework kids prefer to waste time watching shows that will damage their characters. They sit infront of the t.v. for more than 4 hours. They learn bad words from actors and use them daily. Then parents wonder, " where did my child learn those words from?" Television also, makes decreases our learning.
In addition, t.v. absorbs time that we use to go out with friends. Time that we use to keep in touch with our best friends or family. Some people are antisocial because everything they do is sit on their couches the whole day. If parents would regulate t.v hours for their kids; kids would be more friendly and fluent with words. By spending too much time watching t.v., kids dont practice their social skills.
Finally, it has been proven that sitting too much can cause hemorrhoids. Also, staring to much at a sertain short distance causes sight problems. Televison, also, releases ultraviolet rays that affect the vison. Finally, people don't exercise and just lay on the couch for hours. If people would balance their telveision time, there would be less obesety problems. Kids wouldnt be fat. There would be more peace in homes. Instead of telling parents to wait, kids would obey orders instantly. This way everyone would be happy.
In conclusion, televison has affected our daily lives. Whether it is mentally or socially, It always gets to us. People should learn how to balance their time with exercise and reaidng instead of watching shows like family guy that only wastes time. If t.v. was out of our homes life and soceity would be different.
